ZERA HIKES FUEL PRICES, PETROL BREACHES US$2 MARK

Zimbabwe’s fuel regulator, the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority, has announced an upward adjustment in fuel prices, citing rising global cost pressures. Diesel is now priced at US$2.05 per litre, while petrol (blend) has increased to US$2.17 per litre.

According to the authority, the price review comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, which are driving up international fuel costs. ZERA indicated that prices will be reviewed every two weeks as a measure to prevent supply disruptions and arbitrage in the market.

The government says it has stepped in to cushion consumers from steeper increases. Without this intervention, diesel prices would have risen to around US$2.20 per litre.

In a move aimed at strengthening supply options, authorities have also approved the importation of diesel by road with immediate effect. This adds to existing transportation methods, including pipeline and rail.

ZERA assured the nation that fuel supplies remain stable, with adequate stocks available throughout the supply chain—from the port of Beira to inland storage facilities—covering more than three months of demand.
